Bruddah Java hope it's OK, I'm gonna start a Track & Field thread here on the FB board? It's T & F season. I love T & F and feel some of the guys and gals here like T & F as well. USC has a rich history and have had numerous NCAA titles and many great athletes over the years and decades. Shaka and Cheers.

NCAA Indoor T & F National Indoor Championships
Our Men and Women did very well. Big Shaka, Men took the title & championship, Women took 3rd place. HC Quincy Watts has done a great job since taking over after C. CS Gilbert left for UGA. Interestingly, none of the men won 1st place. In T & F team competition getting runners qualify in as many events & winning points is crucial & name of the game.
See report. Oregon women won the championship. Weird Oregon men won the B1G title just 2 weeks ago, but could not find them in top 10 finish. And, can't find where they finished or points won?
Drama in last men's race, 4 x 400 relay. Arkansas the favorite got fouled by Tx AM, which impeded Ark & unfortunately finishing in 5th place. If they had won the race, Arkansas would have won the championship with 40 pts and USC 2nd with 39 pts. The Track Gods were on USC side this time. Arkansas filed a protest to have their team run again and determine their real time. But, NCAA people X that idea.
UGA HC & former USC HC, Caryl Smith Gilbert is doing a great job at UGA. UGA men and women took 2nd place.

USC's Kendal Ellis big run down winning the 4 x 400 race, 2018 NCAA T & F Championship. What an amazing and gutty run down by Ellis by about 25-28 yds in the final lap. Most of all this race gave USC women the team championship.

Butkus...here's another one for you. At the old Hayward Field. I was a regular at most of those NCAA championships back in those days.
It was six singles and three dubs when I played and later coached.
Not really my thing, but since you brought it up and speaking of T&F and championships...
I’m glad you switched subjects. Told ya US men’s tennis was dead. Repost when an American man wins a Slam.
Slight window open with Sinner cheating and Alcaraz already past his prime.
Good work Bruddah!

Steve Prefontaine Story
Love this. I spent many happy days watching the Ducks at Hayward Field. Saw some absolutely great T&F athletes back in the 70's led of course by Steve Prefontaine. Watching Pre run was electric. And Hayward was electric too. Football may garner most of the headlines but T&F is the heart and soul of Oregon athletics.
I was a coach at South Eugene High for two years. I'm in the PE offices before one spring practice and Bill Bowerman walks in with a shoe box in his hands. He had a new pair of track shoes that he wanted South's great runner, Bill McChesney ('80 Olympics in the 10k). This was in '76 or '77. Nike was just getting off the ground than. I still remember my handshake with Bowerman. A piercing gaze and firm, firm handshake. A legend.
Keep 'em coming.

B1G Indoor Championships. USC did well, Men = a close 2nd, Women = a respectable 3rd. Shaka to our men and women T & F athletes. See the results. Cheers
