And note this is part football/part basketball post...
Based on everything you know today, would you rather have beaten Oregon for the p12 championship in football and then lose to Iowa State in the Rose Bowl?
Or would you rather beat Oregon on Sunday and go to the Elite 8, only to lose to Gonzaga?
So basically which is valued more: A P12 championship + Rose Bowl appearance or an Elite 8 appearance?
Another question: Better to beat Iowa State and win your 25th (26th?) Rose Bowl? Or better to beat Gonzaga and make the Final Four?
So which is better: A Rose Bowl win or a Final Four appearance?
Where do you stand on these issues? Just curious if basketball is still simply a lowly undercard to football. Or if accomplishments in basketball, as somewhat meager as they have been compared to football, hold more value due to their relative scarcity?
What say you?
I don't believe USC loses to Gonzaga.
USC had two games vs Oregon this year, neither were competitive. So three PAC teams made it to the Elite 8, none were Oregon or Colorado as would have been expected. So Oregon is about 15th in the country, and about 5th best in the toughest conference.
quite the riddle. Both involve beating Oregon one way or the other. Football should be first.
TOTAL DUCK PENIS ENVY.
Those are vicious questions that makes my head hurt. My take is football is life blood to SC, basketball success is so uncommon at SC we have trouble fitting it into a wish list, especially when you want us to give up on our traditional goals.
no real Trojan gives a shit about basketball. FACT
Going to a rose bowl and not winning it is also worthless to any real Trojan. FACT. sc
Final 4 above all else you specifically noted. It would be unique.
Football first, always.
