Stanfraud only got 19 first downs and had the 9th lowest P12 3rd down conversion rate at 44.4%
Even with 4 fumbles and one interception the Indian's long runs and very long passes skewed their stats up.
They don't seem all that intimidating other than the fact Helton's teams stank on the Road against the Indian.
Stanford also had a "homer" clock operator who figured in 2 losses in Palo Alto. After complaining for years......USC finally sent in a tape showing major clock violations at the end of a game (giving more than enough time to get in winning field goal range) that cost USC the game. That long-time Stanford clock manager was fired by order of the P-12 Office.
Here's more pics of Stanford Indians in their pre-PC era. Enjoy!
