UA agreed to pay UCLA $67.49 million in the settlement. Ucla's deal with UA was worth about 18 mil per year for 15 years. There was 12 years left when UA breached. We mitigated with a 8 mil/year deal with Nike for 6 years. Dividing this settlement over those six years puts us right about where we were. You take guaranteed money agreed upon rather than wait it out over years of litigation and risk getting less or nothing.

Must be a record: Paying $67.5 mill not to have to be associated with a FB team!
If SC didn’t have their heads up their ass, they would have dumped Nike and gone this route…could have been the flagship program.
Why they continue to support Eugene is mindbl
UA was a brand without much substance so the fit with UCAL was natural in many ways. UCAL Southern Branch athletics was headed for bankruptcy with or without UA. UA screwed up tying itself to UCLA. And how does $216 million over 12 years (12 x18) equate to 115.8 million (48 Nike plus 67.8 settlement)? It doesnt. It must be some f'ed up woke UCLA marxist math. Even taking any normal discount rate the PVs dont equal. Tying two rocks together didnt make them float.
Great. More money to share with the Golden Bears, Gauchos, Anteaters, Highlanders, and the rest of the beggars.
pretty stupid of UA to ever think that place was worth all those millions
