Sorry to be a wet blanket but I don’t like this hire. Sounds like a well connected kid ( dad) who is getting shots because of dad. His first real job was as a db coach in 2021. Two seasons as a position coach and now he is DC at a major program? Sorry, don’t like it. I like guys who have been there, done that, and can point to success in their resumes. I used to say that I wanted to see some gray hair too but a young guy works as long as he has a track record. Ken Norton works for this kid ? That’s going to be interesting. Good luck to the young man. Oh, I don’t believe in luck .
This hire is straight shit, at least on paper. Guy might work out, but he lacks the Defensive players in the program to come in and shoot from the hip right away. He will need to build this, and that takes time. They don't have the luxury of time, this is "Fuck or Walk" for this coaching staff. This is what happens when you keep a coach like Kelly on for too long, no one who is established and worth a damn will come work for him because it is a death march. Moving the family to LA for a year or maybe two max is a fool's errand. UCLA seriously needs to buy a few houses in/around Brentwood or Westwood to act as living quarters for these coaches to try and attract better guys. No one wants to drive in from Sylmar or wherever else you could afford for what they are paying only to get shit canned in a year. I get it, everyone needs that first "shot" and all coaches got one at some point, this just reeks of desperation.
This isn't a hand of poker where the next one comes along in a few minutes. A loss here will take YEARS to recover from at this point, and I am over the perennial rebuld of UCLA football.
From what I read on BRO, there's a good chance he'll be at UCLA for just one year. If he does well, he'll probably go back to the NFL and UCLA can use the BIG 10 media money to pay up for an experienced DC. If Lynn doesn't do well, he gets canned and UCLA can use BIG 10 media money to pay up for an experienced DC.
Well, I was hoping for a well-established college DC. Then I remembered that Chip never hires anyone like that. But I'm hoping this guy, being young and being very familiar with the NFL, will help with recruiting good athletes to play on defense. Oh, and maybe he'll actually learn how to be a DC. Quickly. If not, well, he can't be worse than the previous two clowns.
I'll take anyone from the John Harbaugh coaching tree. He coached safeties, and we need help there in a bad way. He's a young up and comer and a guy Harbaugh said he didn't want to lose.

Harbaugh didn’t want to lose him. Hopefully a younger guy like this will bring some energy and toughness to the D.
Top 40 defense. Everyone will be surprised except the posters here.
