im not so sure about Lanning yet, he is working with blank checks but Coach Meat and Tosh are the real deal. Coach Meat was beating Pete when he was at UCLA, and he was working with nothing. Tosh was killing it at Cal. Cal. Tosh was handing bags out ( coffee cups with cash actually) at UW. Tosh played the recruiting game in the freaking SEC. Talk about polished!
Cristobol has the same thing going for him as Lanning....CASH.....
Recruiting is nothing like the days where kids wanted to play for a coach because they had a great reputation or had made a connection with the kid and his family....now it's all about CASH with the elite players and promises of starting right away...you give Cristobol and Lanning way too much credit on the recruiting IMHO...but there is a differece between the two coaches,,,,Lanning is a step ahead of Christobal as a game day coach...Cristobol makes the same mistakes during games now as he did when he started coaching as a Head Coach IMHO....
Although I can't deny I'm pleased NIL is working in Oregon's favor these days, this is unsustainable over the long run. I'm expecting sweeping changes (perhaps beginning with the end of the NCAA as a governing body) to come down this decade.
And much like the olden days of unlimited schollie numbers that USC, UCLA and Washington used to all greatly abuse to their benefit and allowing them to rule the conference, this too shall come to an end at some point with greater guardrails and oversight. At least I hope.
Don't know where ON3 gets its numbers but found the avg NIL $ amount interesting to the side of each school.
If these are accurate then Oregon and Miami are doing this at a bargain compared to the other top 8 teams.
