actually, I agree with you. Defining offsides based on where your opponent is, is stupid, though a fixed line won't work like it does in hockey. Soccer would be better served liberalizing the offside rule to promote more scoring. Americans will never enjoy all the 1-0 games; they need 4-3 or 5-4 scorelines.

Played indoor and it was brutal. I was never a brute. I had skill. Fun. Played senior year last game w a broken toe. Got it shot up w novacaine by a dental studen who swore if I ever told anyone he’s lose his license and he’d kill me. I scored twice and we won 3-2. Walked funny for a month or two. Man that hurt. Kinda like now. Broken foot I’m laying softball on. Can’t jog like I normally do. Just rest a week. Go play and hope it heals. Eventually it did and it will.

Indoor soccer and pledge football were both pretty physical. But because it was just part of the game I never spent much time thinking of it. Same with baseball. Or coaching. Delivering dear and conquering it is part of baseball. i don’t romanticize It. It just. Is. I’m pretty matter of fact. one reason I won so fun as a player and coach. Everyone else gets all emotional and tries to get physical. I just focused on the game and won. Stupid as hell watching guys jump up and down and yell before a baseball game. psyching themselves up. Fools. Covering their tiny weanies with their yelling.

But always has head on a swivel. Playing indoor soccer. nothing clears your sinuses like a fastball under your nose at 85. I never saw 90 but my kid as a frosh took 90 off the left field wall in for playoffs for a triple. Called his shot. we still got killed lol

sister was the skater not me. Hate being cold. Skate park was right by the Rink. Except I had to pay my own way for that. Dad wasn’t keen at all with skating. Sis was paid for because it was legit somehow. Whatever lol. She wound up starring for ice capades and snoopy on ice and whatever knotts and sea world did at the time. So she stayed indoors I went outdoors. She’s an osteopath who fulfilled your get married and quit prediction.

Ever smell hockey gear? Smells worse than fast food clothes. Gross.

so yeah I’ve played a little of everything. Fraternity sports were about high school level for most things. Though obviously by bigger men. Played against Kennedy pola Jack Del rio Duane bickett. Sean Salisbury when they were delta chis. They just bullied guys in basketball. Brutal. Oh but beat rhem all in superstars. So yahoo claim to fame there lol. Took 2nd to the usc decathalete which sucked. No way he should have been allowed to compete. Did was being paid to do all those events. gosh big surp he beat me in the 1600m. 100m. Long jump and shot put huh? Ah 2nd place was good enough :-).

oh here’s a funny. Named athlete of the year in my house. Senior year. Which I joked at the time and true still. Meant I was the only one both not hung over or 50lb overweight on Saturdays lol sort of like in 16 candles being named king of the dipsh$&

but what was fun about it was being able to play everything. Against some decent athletes. Rodney Peete among them. And the other guys mentioned. Mark mc gwire. Randy Johnson. One was stupid and fat at usc. The other a pot addict. Stringy hair. but was able to play the above plus volleyball. Track and field stuff. Soccer tennis basketball. Pledge and passing leage football. Softball but usc softball sucked. Played it w a mush ball. So gay. Tried swimming and found I’m no match for kids who grew up doing it in so cal. I swim well for an inlander but that is it. Became very good at ping pong. Terrible at pool.

And borderline professionally good at both fooseball and Qbert lol Fooseball because Greg shue was in our house and had techniques that pros know so I stole them and played morem then I studied. Ditto ping pong for awhile. qbert happened because our house ruined the game the video company left and had to buy it. I figured how to fix it and we put it on free. Once again instead of studying I memorized the patterns and was great at it.

soccer still sucks. Like hockey it’s fun to play but hell to watch. My kids played because their mom allowed it with baseball and the seasons worked together. I also could coach both at a high level. It’s not hard. I’m an incredible bb coach with an eye for technique and detail. Soccer was easier because I knew how to make kids work way harder than the snack and juice crowd was used to. So we won and kids were great. And I was the coach people loved and loved to hate Asked to coach several high schools for bb. Know what that pays? $2,000. For a season. Hahahahaha. 4-5 months. 100 practices. $2k. So nah. Notnin it for money. When kids grew up I was done. Guys I coached with are still out there and their wives are like “oh he’s me hero. Loves to coach”. Screw that. I have better things to do with my life then coach a bunch of kids I don’t know. I coached for my kids and their benefit when they were done I was done. I’ve got a life to live in a business to run I sure as hell I’m not going to spend it on some dusty desert field, coaching some eight year old, whose dad thinks he’s the next Aaron Judge.

so I tolerated soccer to play it and coach it. Doesn’t mean I have to watch It. It’s horrible. watching 5 year olds play is more fun that seeing professionals. Truth. And let that sink in. beautiful game my barking spider

I feel the same about tennis. Fun to play. Healthy. I was good kinda. But gosh don’t make me watch it on tv. Golf sucks too. As does hockey. I’ll watch tennis if I know the person playing. Bowling sucks too. And most Olympic sports lol. Why does not the equestrian competition honor the horse? rhey do all the work. Same w auto racing. Now if the drivers pushed the cats around the track? Ok that’s athletic. I’ll recognize them then. Until then big deal. You drove a car. So do I

It's a matter of opinion. The world prefers soccer, the U.S. sports fan population prefers to watch soccer over hockey, and you have 7x as many people in the US that play soccer over hockey. I'm sure swinging a stick while in skates is fun to play but there's a reason soccer is the most popular sport in the WORLD. I only see soccer growing in the US, can't say the same for hockey.

Most people are poor.

Ha! I played soccer for many years and never understood this magic spray. Let's not forget how flopping can ruin a game. Then again, you see it in all sports. Heck , i've seen some of the best flopping in football by kickers, wide receivers, and QBs that barely get touched.
