So frustrating after two years of all O. No D.
They’re allowing 22 points a game. That’s 43 or 48th depending on whose ranking. Take away overtime scoring and miller miss pick 6s and they’re under 20, which would put them top 25.
If I told you they’d have a d giving up 20 to this schedule. Top 25-30 in the nation you’d do backflips.
The problem? Their offense is 48th in the nation in scoring They’ve gone from a top 5-10 offense scoring 40+ a game to 30. Huge drop. They’ve thrown several game changing int. Either to kill their chances or to turn games around. They’ve had at least 3 pick 6 or returns that effectively were. Like down to the 10. They’ve thrown 9 int. And gotten 6. Not sure about fumbles but likely similar.
USC expects under Riley to have a top 5-10 offense. Number 48 is an abject disaster. Disaster from a talent coaching and execution standpoint. Mason Murphy should be left at the nearest bus stop. Left to be homeless in Seattle. 10-12 false starts. 6 of which were called. And they left him in the game.
USC under the air raid having the 48th best scoring offense. With a returning qb and their wr and rb group is malpractice.
then again. I said in game 2 they better get Maiva ready. We’ve seen. No packages. No special drives for him to come I. For 1-2. None. And we waited until the season was most to even give him a meaningful snap. This from a coach who benched rattler during the Texas game. Biggest of the year. And went with Caleb. I truly don’t get it.
I’m sure we will learn what Amina’s limitations are. He turned the ball over a lot at unlv so maybe that’s the problem. I just want to see him move and take off once in awhile
Defense altough not deep and lacking talent in the front 7, has been a revelation. Great pursuit angles, much improved tackling, good discipline. The improved coaching is showing. Let’s hope the staff stays together a little longer.
My theory is I think Moss was an experiment.
His mentor Mike Leach always had pocket passers, threw the ball 50-60x a game.
Riley always had dual threat QBs and ran the ball 55-60% of the time.
I really think he was trying to be like Leach.
It failed miserably.
Hopefully he’s going back to what made him successful..
