USC game balls and goats does not mean greatest of all time lol
D-really the DL Thats where it starts. My first post from the field was the obvious size difference and the result reflected that. First shutout for USC since Skippy ran out of the Coliseum a 50-0 ucla loser on 11/26/11.
Woody Marks-100 yds at half. On about 12 carries. 39 receiving yards, one really nice catch. Sat the 2nd half. You really learn to appreciate him when seeing him in person. Sad they only get him for one year.
OL-QB was not sacked, not hurried or Hit. Blew open holes for backs all night. Again, see size differential
Jaden Maiva-wow this guy has tools. And they show. Miller Moss is Kedon Slovis with more experience and a better system and coach. Both are fragile, not mobile, and throw a soft, catchable ball. No one would want Moss or Slovis to throw into tight windows. Maiva has a gun. Little too excited staring down his WR into a tight window throw or two but. but but Mobility. Size, gun. 8/11 for 66 yards is a good start running w the subs.
Goat time
USC receivers. Way too many drops. Lane and Branch dropped TD's, McRee was stripped on the 10. Ruined 3 red zone opportunities or turned them into FG. Several other drops. All a matter of concentration, and shows USC isnt as good in the red zone. You need to be very good and have receivers who block and secure the ball. They didn't.
Miller Moss-last week his YPA was 10.5 and Nussmeier was at 8. Tonight Moss was at 7.6 against a presumably worse D. Smaller. No pressure. 70% is great, but much of the night it was 61%. This parallels Slovis, who had similar accuracy without ultimate points results. Moss has thrown only 1 TD in each of his last two games. You can't afford that sort of inefficiency and it's on Miller.
Some games are closer or more dominant than the score indicates. USC passed for 295 at a 71% clip Ran for 250 at a 6.7 ypc 2-2 on FG Utah St only gained 103 yards passing, and USC held him to a putrid 3.8 YPA. 3.8 per carry and the team ran for 87. Don't remember the last time USC held someone under 100 as a team. 544 total offense to 190 for USU. 4vflags for 27 yards and once again the opponent for more. 9 for 64. So this game we saw 37 free yards and last game 50. Those add up.
What they didn't teach you at baseball camp is football. USU ran basically a 3-5-3 all night. This opened up the run game, limited pressure on the QB, opened up the short passing routes. They did it to presumably slow down the game and avoid the big plays from the WRs. It didn't work as far as winning but did create conditions for your dumb as shit analysis. Football is not a video game, you dolt.
Moss' arm is just fine. He can make all the throws. He's already made several throws into tight windows. And guess what. He reads defenses a lot better than caleb.
