not all high ankle sprains are the same. just like any other sprain.

but in general it takes about 6 weeks. sometimes months.

the younger anyone is the faster everything heals. So even if it's not a big tear of either or both talofibular bands (ligaments) , it takes at least a month.

The problem with all sprains is if you don't let it heal and re-injure it , it may give your problems for the rest of your life. Sometimes it's better to break something . Bones heal. especially in kids. Ligaments, not always so much. sc

Yea. I did that, fell in a hole walking back from the bar. Totally gassed. It was sore a few days, felt better….went out and played, not a 100%, but walking up a hill to a green, stepped wrong….Very painful. Thought is was ok. It wasn’.

Never really got over it. Now it’s all scar tissue and very little mobility. In fact, maybe you recall? you recommended an ortho down in south OC. He said, I’ll cut on you anytime you like to remove all the scar tissue, but didn’t recommend it until the pain was too much. So I held off.
