Way overdue. Kid was getting jobbed at USC...he was a tougher runner and better pass blocker than the guy that shared time with Lloyd....and with that offensive line who wouldn't want to get out of Dodge..
I posted before that coaching and schemes were the handicap thrown at the SC RB's and coaches that can't adjust to the talent and make it work end up losers.
Obviously Riley as Java pointed out puts a priority on pass catching from his backs and Barlow just never improved enough in that area to get on the field for a team that loves to pass the ball. Since he does other parts of the game fairly well he needs to go to a school that a back coming out of the backfeld to catch passes is not a priority. The difference in this instance is Barlow was told to improve that aspect of his game to get on the field and apparently he didn't. He had two years to fix it and couldn't. Not the same issue with a frosh QB that was forced into a scheme that didn't suit his obvious talents and if I remember correctly the Bruins on this board raved about how he was the next coming ( no one raved about Barlow in that regard). One would think someone that talented would be exploited to his fullest and given the opportuity to learn along the way...
