Great game and always good for team depth and loyalty check. Nice way to enter the off season with lots of change ahead starting with defense and the lines.
im sure USC never considered turning down the bowl invite. That would be ridiculous. But the extra practice time gave the new coaches valuable opportunities to evaluate the players. Not to mention what it did for the confidence of the receivers. Maybe Lemon stays now.
I felt that way...I saw no upside to plaing the game for USC...but in retrospect...obviously I underestimated Riley and the impact of cutting lose some primadonna players and defesnive coaches. Obviously now that impact was tremensous. Brought the team together and pushed the egos aside.I never doubted Miller Moss howere but didn't expect the game he played. But this kid was highly rated out of highschool and wanted by bigtime programes and I posted that he had a quick release and went through his progressions quickly which helped the offesnive line dramatically. I also underestiated Smith on defesne ...he played a hellva game...still not sold on Bryson Shaw.
At least you admit it and explain the reasons.Smith was playing free safety last night for the first time in his career. He was a nickelback all year. He looked much better. No one knew what we really had in Moss. He certainly exceeded all of my expectations. the offensive game plan and the Louisville defense both helped him shine. The defense was very accomodating with their game plan to load the box and play man to man coverage.
No I posted tht I thought they would lose and a loss would impact recruiting and that these bowls are worthless when they allow kids to jump and walkaway ...but obviously Riley really worked on the kids remaining and got them ready to play...
Crow baby crow!!! ✌️ well earned CLR.
brave of you now. well, not really.
i stand by the sentiment. one lucky game doesn't erase an embarrassing season.

Off to the "off season" where UCLA shines best.
Do you think it's fair to say the extra 4 weeks of practice, as well cultivating the new team culture was extremely beneficial?
If USC/CLR turned down the bowl invitation, the criticism around the country would've elevated to another level.
