Does anyone think we run enough of them?
With our shaky OL and a QB who cant run?
Why do you think CLR doesnt run more of them? They seem to work the 0-1 times we use during a game.
Do screens not work against zone coverage?
is that an issue?
I say, and have said multiple times, we need to run this 5-6 times a game. To both sides of field.
Works well against a zone defense with tight coverage. Ran it to death vs Penn St. until they adjusted.
Were you not watching the Rutgers game? Watching the dodger game maybe? The whole first half was sink and dunk little screens and crosses.
Screens are used on aggressive D's front 7, who penatrate well and blizt a lot. And, when DB's are in man to man. Screens should not be use all the time, they are called to counter the aggresive front 7 and make them think twice from blizting.
Screens worked cause Rutger's D is not good. Their D is ranked # 94 in the country
Also, if their LB's are good in pass coverage and key on the RB's that's not a play to call. Plus, it takes a lot from the OL to pull and block down field (screens tires OL).
in my opinion
screens work best against man coverage
but they work great against zone coverage in obvious passing downs
I'm sure others have different views
edit: after looking at the video, swing passes and wheel routes are a bit different
but almost always very effective, especially when they are spying the quarterback
and there you can see the tight end or h-back blocking downfield
kind of like a bubble screen, but not
I would like to see more, but against better Ds, where MM gets rattled, he just can't complete those.
