To someone (was it Brad?) who had the question whether Lanning was even offered the job at UA, thought the below was interesting from an Alabama insider.
The TL;DR version is that Lanning's actual buyout was more than $20M, it was $30M (although I've heard it is more than that, but who knows?). So no reason for Alabama to even ask him. A much smaller buyout would have likely been a different story.
There's another rumor that says it was clear the two that Saban ("Satan"....lol!) wanted was Sarkisian or Lanning to replace him. Not sure I believe it.
I do however believe that DeBoer was well aware of Saban stepping down long before he did, and Sexton was aware of this, and likely DeBoer, too, of course. Makes sense especially after hearing that interview with DeBoer in November or December where he was quite evasive and could not convincingly articulate that he was locked in at UW for the long haul.

I have heard $5.5 million.
If Fisch has UW back in the finals the next two years. Florida will come calling. Unless they are successful themselves.
Buyout starting at 12M.
What do you suppose the ua buyout was?
