From Dan Lanning....and I figured this deserved its own thread just to make sure all, including my buddy TEE, saw it...lol.
DIGGING the part about Eugene being a great place to be but not a great place to leave as a direct knife-twist to a few recent past head coaches (right, Willie and Mario?) 🤣🤣🤣
Not to say Lanning is necessarily a Lifer in Eugene, but until Georgia or Alabama come calling, not too much to worry about in my opinion. A nice bet with you Trojans might be to predict whose recently-hired head coach remains at their respective school longer: Oregon's or USC's? 😏
DAN LANNING: "First thing I want to say is that things like this are going to come up when you have team success and you do your job and things go the way they're supposed to go — that's credit to our team. That being said, I think there's a little bit of a problem in our society today with people looking for what's next and where there's an opportunity, and the reality is the grass is not always greener. In fact, the grass is damn green in Eugene, and I want to be here in Eugene for as long as Eugene will have me," he said.
"This place has everything I could possibly ever want; that my family could every want. I have an 11 year-old that has lived in eight different states. The last thing I ever want to do is leave. I want to enjoy this opportunity here. It's been a phenomenal place for us. When you talk about things that align, things that match your vision for what you're looking for as a head coach, Oregon checks every box for me.
"I think history maybe shows that this is a great place to be and not a great place to leave. I want to be here. Hopefully, that's the last time I have to address it, but the reality is this is a destination, not just for me, but for elite players. And why is it a destination? Great administration, great fans, great support, and it's a good reason to be here and a big reason we're having the success that we're having."
Do you want the cold truth? Oregon is a better job than Auburn. Lanning knows this. In 5 years, people will realize that Auburn is an extinct program like Nebraska and Miami. I realize it today.
Lol, always a bed of roses with you and your duckies. And has Lanning actually done enough to even be considered for the Bama head coaching job??? 😂
this guy is bizarre
Oh a coach rumored to be leaving issues a denial? shocking. You can’t be this naive LAD. I know for a fact you have been following this stuff for many years. That said, Lanning has been a head coach for less than a year, he needs more time to deserve a big time job. At least a couple of years of success, you would think. But some of these AD’s are crazy. Tom Herman had one good year, Sark never had a good year, Frost had one good year. But yeah, Lanning is probably renting in Eugene. Bama or Georgia? whaaaa? Getting ahead of yourself there after 8 games.
Lanning ain't long for Eugene. Who would be, with Nike being part of a dying conference?
Besides, who knows how good of a head coach he'll ultimately be. He's winning with talent, which Nike has in spades due to unlimited funding and Uncle Phil.
Don't fool yourself just yet.
