What did USC Staff Screw Up Last Night???

1. No halftime adjustments from D

utah plays tight OL spacing and we didnt account for that.

2. Neutralized Tuli. He spaced out way too far. maybe bring him in to play a little DT? This is weakest USCs DL Ive ever seen. HAVE to try anything to disrupt things.

3. On Offense we stopped screens after halftime

4. Also stopped throwing to wide open TEs

I blame CW more than staff but still shared blame

5. CW is a physical freak athlete/QB. I think he maybe a low IQ dude. Makes incredible throws. Misses alot of the field. pre snap player. CLR has to scheme accordingly

6. Offense clearly needed to stay on field and keep our D on the sidelines. we did just the opposite. Sark/Kiffen esque.

7. Clock management. That was an F-

When the official allows the tight end to get free by running into the defender, what adjustments can you make? 12 to 5 penalties tells you what was going on without over analyzing it.

Until we get a D1 sized defense we will struggle to beat elite lites and lose to the elites of CFB. sc had plenty of chances to win but I think The Grinch called a terrible game.

We need two Stevie T's at tackle (not necessarily gonna get to the QB, but immovable rocks), more Rey Reys and Cushings at LB (less Kenyan marathon MLB's that get bitch slapped on blitzes), and let your DE's eat (the speed thing ain't working at all).

I actually like the corners, and the safeties are decent but need to eat as well. Goforth needs to go forth to the portal and take Foreman with him.

That said, Gomer would've lost this game by 30. So, there's that silver lining I guess

You're right in that Nike could run the table. But if they end up 12-1, no way they get an invite, not after getting spanked by Georgia. The people who pick the final four will use that against them, even though the game was long ago and shouldn't matter much. They'd pick a one-loss SEC or B1G team over a one-loss Pac 12 team for sure.

Probably. And shows you the Ducks AD is stupid for scheduling those games. Play a UCLA type OOC schedule. Getting a win at home vs a FCS team is still better than losing to #1 on the road.

Funny thing was, Utah had a lot of momentum, offensively, when at least a couple of the targeting investigations took place. The refs too so long determining the calls, the USC defense was able to get a lot of rest.

There was a lot of bizarre shit going on with officiating. During that interception in the fourth quarter that was called back because of Utah P.I., I still have no idea why they put more time on the clock; how do you call timeout in the middle of a play? Also, why didn't the USC guy get called for unnecessary roughness when he shoved that Utah guy to the ground about five yards out of bounds after the interception? Neither ended up having a real effect on the game, but they were both really odd.

That whole play was chaos. I also wonder from a rules standpoint how you let time run off on a play like that. I mean. Seems like you’ve created a competitive advantage to committing a penalty there. Throw the wr to the ground. Int the pass. Run out the clock.

im not saying there’s anything in the rules about that. But I’m wondering how a defense gains advantage on that. Oh and how do you call the toss out of bounds on a play that never should have happened? Weird. USC got all of 4 seconds there. Lost way more than that on the whole play and penalty sequence

You are correct, but the game was still winnable with a little better play by SC. I'm more interested in how SC reacts to the loss. It will fill in the missing pieces on the coaching staff, a team made up of "portal players" may not have the kind of character need to bounce back. The players will need to show that they deserve to wear the CG in MHO.
