I haven't seen it, but it seems that Stanford was ahead and OSU had to rally. I don't know if that makes Stanford improved or Oregon State getting worn down after tough losses to USC and Utah.
The thing is, Oregon State is a pretty good team. They put up a huge fight against USC, as you know, and they actually outplayed Utah for much of that game; four turnovers totally fucked the Beavers, but the score of 42-16 is misleading. OSU held a really good Utah offense to only 361 yards. They outgained the Utes with over 400 yards of their own, and they had more first downs than Utah -- who was a first-down machine against UCLA, despite the loss.
The point is, Stanford had been doing seemingly pretty shitty, but they almost beat a good Beaver squad. Yeah, it was in Palo Alto, but still.
Anyone watch that game? What are your thoughts?
Watched the last few minutes . Stanford kicks a field goal to go ahead 27-22. Under a minute left. OSU out of timeouts. Kickoff is returned to the 25, 75 yards to go. Several short completions out to their own 40. Under 20 seconds left. Remember no timeouts left. OSU qb throws a pass to about the Stanford 40. The OSU receiver makes a great catch while covered like a blanket, the Stanford DB falls to the ground and another Stanford DB who is standing right there fails to even try to tackle
OSU receiver and he goes 40 more yards in for the winning score. No one for Stanford was playing deep safety . incredible play. I am sure you can Google it to see for yourself. Stanford players might be smart students but not smart players
Didn't see the game. Maybe the P-12 teams aren't that different from one another. Some just luck out with winning records. I know, 6-0 doesn't sound like luck, but how much better are they than the other teams?
game was at Stanford. Osu on road second straight week. game on grass. Not plastic.
i think stanford isn’t a great team but is better than what they showed usc Ucla gets them at home so I don’t see a big problem. The only wild card here are turnovers and penalties but they always are
I watched the 2nd half. Crazy because Stanford was in total control of at least 3/4 of the game. Beavs made a few plays to stay in it, while Stanford went conservative (as Tee stated below). It still took a ‘fluke’ play with 20 or 30 seconds left in the game in order for the Beavs to pull it out. QB made a really shitty back shoulder pass to the WR, which was poorly defended by TWO Stanford DBs (didn’t turn and no one behind wr).… they have issues up in Palo, but rumor is Shaw is in zero jeopardy of losing his job.
Stanford is a tough out. For anyone. Now That doesnt mean they are very good But they dont stink.
Emmitt Smith‘s son is pretty talented…
Beavers came back because Furd played the conservative not to lose game in the 4th as they always do. Shaw sucks. Beavers are soild sans their QB. All those INTs vs SC, Utah and Furd are killing them. They really need to hit the portal for a QB.
