What is the PAC 2 doing?

Spending $40 million plus to buy Mtn West teams to form a new Mtn West conference?

What is their future. Why not go the SMU route and take no money for six years in the big 12. They got a $200 million treasure chest. Getting $10 mil yr in media payout is death. Talk about programs getting cut .

Besides , what’s the rush. There is no rush. Rush to add Mtn West teams? Where are they going? I’d rather have Olympic sports in the WCC and stay Independent like they are doing for the next two years. It’s better than permanently being Colorado State.

The rush is that they have two years to get back to 8 teams to retain their power 5 status

I assume that is important for revenue sharing from the NCAA, auto bids, etc. I would certainly be more than a little bugged if they got equal money or auto bids but I do think that is the strategy

Well they initially had two. What I don't know is if they have one year now to get a plan or have everyone in place. I think next year they can play like they are now

They have a deadline to get to 8 teams to be cfp eligible. I think the end of next season.

And smu has oil money.

The PAC 2 had a schedule alliance with the Mtn west for one years for football only ( Olympic sports went to WCC for two years). But the Mtn west commish put a clause in the contract that if the PAC poached any teams their would be a $10 million poaching fee for each team

Well , the PAC just poached 4 teams. $40 million to Mtn West

Current mtn west teams get $7 mil/ yr in media deal. The “new” PAC estimates are $15 mil/yr .

It’s still open as to whether the PAC will be able to keep their Power status once they get back to 8. Not sure who votes on that . Or if it is currently in a Contract of some sort .

From what I read on their Boards they already have 5 games scheduled. And don’t anticipate a problem filling the other 7.
