expectations can be killers
For me, they got a little bit out of line after getting jobbed by the PAC in Utah
when I was expecting a Ute game more like the PAC CCG
and they only got worse as Caleb revealed himself to be the best player in the game soon after
but for sure after beating a solid Notre Dame squad
a loss to a generational Tulane squad and two losses to the best team in the PAC are far from satisfying
but it was far from a bad year
4-8 to 11-3
eight embarrassing losses to three losses against top 25 teams
no bowl game to one against a top 20 team that may end up in the top ten
missed CFP game by one game with every right to go based on the same number of wins as Ohio State
since both SC and the Buckeyes had one bad loss to date
that being said
expectations for next year are sky high
just hope they aren't killers
ha!
This is the job of the AD to "level" LR and get the horses LR needs. I have mixed feeling on Grinch. Part of me says he did a great job with what he had to work with. The other hand says you need a sacrificial lamb to make a statement on what is acceptable and what is not. HTownTrojan.
didn't USC get their butts kicked but a bad UTAH team twice which cost you a pac12 title, a spot in the Final 4 and some other good stuff? Oh, UCLA easily beat Utah.
I thought USC was going to win it all the second they stole the Oklahoma Football Program. Kind of sad they didn't to be honest. If they did it would prove that you didn't actually need to build a program and that you could just go out and take one and it would work, and then everyone would start doing it, causing an arms race the like of which has never been seen, which would have been insane to watch. But, here we are.
That was oklahomas complaint.
CLR is a one trick pony quarterback whisperer. Their words not mine.
doesn’t pay attention to defense and completely ignores special teams.
dude is a smart guy. time will tell if true. sc
When Bo Nix went down vs Washington.
A healthy Bo and Oregon likely would be in the playoffs, probably vs Michigan....perhaps setting up a re-match with Georgia on Monday. 😆
When Caleb Williams starting taking off during the ASU game.
He was always elusive, but now he looked like his tape from high school. Changed everything. Like the movie the Matrix. He is the ONE.
reminded me of this moment.

I predicted 8 wins. Can't complain about 11, even as embarrassing as it ended. sc
After the Notre Dame game.
Even after the loss at Utah, I was pretty confident SC could go 8-1 and win the conference, although not supremely confident about beating UCLA. After the UCLA game, I had little doubt SC would beat Notre Dame but thought it still might not be enough to get into the top 4. After watching the ND game, and with the LSU loss that day, I was all in on the idea that SC would win the CCG, no matter who was the opponent, and qualify for the Playoff; and that in the Playoff it would have at least a puncher's chance of advancing.
As bad as the defense was, I still believe SC would have won the CCG with a healthy Williams. His ability to keep the ball on the read option was the key to the running game all year. When Utah realized that threat was gone, as was his scrambling ability, the offense got shut down and the defense predictably gave up big play after big play.
all things considered, this year was more than passable. Hell the 8th HT would have made a losing record worth it (are your ears burning ND?), so the fact that USC was not CFP worthy one year post helton is not that bad. But what concerns me is, is Riley willing and able to make the changes that are now obvious (to everyone else) to be a real CFP/NC contender? From what I've witnessed this season, no.
