out of the heisman.
The downtown athletic club either gave out or voted for the heisman BEFORE the final game of the season.
They gave it it Archie Griffin. to me this was a CRIME against humanity. USC did win the Rose bowl against ohio state.
Absolutely love that Caleb won the heisman this year. Makes me smile just thinking about it. Kid put the ENTIRE team on his back and brought SC back to respectability pretty much all by himself.
Well. Max Dugan is brining his team to the national championship game. Anyone doubt this is his team?
If he wins his next game, it isn't a specious (look it up) argument to say that he deserved the heisman this season over Caleb.
I know it's a made for TV event now. My only point is they should WAIT until all the games are played to hand out the MVP award. sc
Yes AD was screwed and no Duggan did not deserve the Heisman. The Heisman had not reformed the c
AD did get screwed.
Ricky Bell would have won if he hadn't missed some games. (#1 overall NFL pick)
Toby Gerhart (Stanford) should have won. (Led the nation in rushing for years)
Andrew Luck (Stanford) should have won. (#1 overall NFL pick)
Christian McCaffery (Stanford) should have won. (#5 overall NFL pick)
I think AD got screwed, too. But the problem in his year wasn’t that they CLOSED the balloting too soon, it was thet they OPENED it too soon. Most of the votes had already been sent in before the 55-24 ND game, which was his Heisman moment that year.
See, early voting abuse has been around a long time.
He had that vaunted Michigan D confused all night. Great execution.
that decision was made back in the day because lots of star players didn't get to play in bowl games - you basically had to win your conference to qualify for a bowl - and the DT Athletic Club thought they should level the playing field by not including bowl performances in the outcome. in this day and age, they should probably adjust this, but the playoff will complicate this (for obvious reasons) so expect them to stand pat.
