It's named after the guy who founded the conference. His name was Hugh G. Reckshun.
When Pen St. joined the conference, they were worried that 10 was as high as they could count.
Ask your mom.
/got nothing
Didn't Aerosmith/Bull Moose Jackson sing a song about the Big 10?
b/c the pac already had dibbs on "Wac 10"?
Used to have 10 obviously. built that name over the years.
saw that the focus of pac 8 or 10 is pac so it could be the pac 16 or 25 and still work.
saw the sec and acc were built on regional identity.
big 12 made a mistake when the Swc broke up by being the big 8 then 12. kinda messed up branding
I think the big 10 felt their identity was the name. Moving it around would totally confuse with the big 8 and 12. It’s short. It’s identifiable. It has history. It’s obviously odd but it is what it is
Why is it called, Proctor & Gamble, Ford, Ernst & Young, etc, etc. It's a brand. Don't be stupid, you moron.
