I look at this list and to justify the big salary I will say that either the player has accomplished a lot. Like Hebert. Or the team has. Like Goff and the lions.
Now minshew doesn’t make much more than Sam and Sam should pass him up this year so we can set him to the side
And yes, we can argue that Sam made the pro bowl and Sam‘s also had many years of mediocrity. And the team was on the verge of great things this season, but that all fell apart as well.
But look at the salaries of Prescott Watson and Lawrence. I don’t know maybe you make an argument for cousins and Smith and car.R because they’ve been in the league a while? I’m not convinced here.
My point is that Sam has every right to claim the salary of any of those guys in the group. Obviously he’s not going to get Dak Prescott money because Jerry Jones is an idiot and Jerry is the only one who would throw around stupid money like that but there’s a long way between Dak Prescott making $60 million a year and Sam making 10 on a one year deal
So well, Sam might have caused himself a lot of money and he won’t get a three-year $150 million deal. I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t and shouldn’t get a three-year $75 million deal. I can’t believe the kind of money we are talking about for some of these guys.
Upon second reading. I would say this. Those ridiculous salaries seem limited to guys who are definite starters. Suck but starting. So the question is. Does anyone see Sam as a starter? I would think after this year someone would. And that would justify the salary.
Failing that. If someone’s not willj g to guarantee him the spot? It looks to me like a top end backup makes about $10 million this list and he’d be there w a one year deal. Sam has been in the same salary range almost his whole career
Best job in the nfl btw. Back up qb. Mark hermann was a draft with brother of my cousins at Purdue. Said he had the best job in the world. For 16 years he got a great view of games. Got to play in 1-2 a year. Mostly analyzed and commented and held a clipboard. And got paid about $750,000 a year. Which at the time was massive money to essentially be doing nothing. Took the money. Went back to his hometown in Indiana. And opened an insurance agency.
Yup, only a loser would work for $10 million a year! So, how much do you make, loser?
You tell us Genius
If Geno freaking Smith is worth $25 mil a year for 3 years then Sam Darnold is absolutely gonna get paid that or more.
I am not saying he's worth it or I would but Waldorf is right. My gosh what these guys get paid Some to be horrible.
Pretty crazy how much these QBs make, even the shitty ones.
