Pretty much have it set. Except the drive from Jackson hole to Rushmore. Looking for stuff along the way.
Anyone remember anything worth seeing in Riverton. Casper. Gillette. Devils tower? Those all seem about 2 hours apart
I figure if I find a couple things along the way. Some Indian museum or show. Bow hunting with Ted nugent. Worlds largest ball of twine. I might stop and visit
The Wyoming Pioneer Prison Museum is in Rawlins, WY. I liked it alot but is more south than the Riverton/Casper path.
Devil's Tower is nice....Easy 1.7 mile hike around it....This can lead you into Deadwood and/or Sturgis (famous biker town) on you way to Rushmore. Badlands is worth the visit if you don't mind driving further east. In Yellow Stone, Boiling River Hot Springs is a nice side adventure, but get there early in the morning if you want to park.
Cody is the spot with Museums. A few of them actually.
Also nightly rodeos.
Devils Tower is a cool stop.
State Fair is prob long gone now?? Maybe not and maybe it travels?
Deadwood is a good throwback visit as previously recommended by someone else.
Not sure where Costners Yellowstone ranch is? That maybe worth looking for?
Seriously, what are you going to see on this trip that you haven't already seen in California? It's a waste of time.
Done the trip a few times. Glacier National Park is a bit of drive from Yellowstone, but definitely worth the trip. Road to the Sun is incredible.
At Yellowstone, the bus trip around the Ring of Fire gives you a good overall sense of where things are. We always take a chartered fishing trip on Lake Yellowstone. The Old West Dinner cookout is fun. Yellowstone is an incredible place. Just about the only place you have geothermal, incredible waterfalls and unique wildlife in the US. Lots of walking trails, but some incredible stuff. Be sure to take mosquito repellant.
Rushmore is one of my favorites. Best laid out park in the US. Its all right in front of you from the start.
Between Yellowstone and Rushmore, I would recommend a stop at Little Bighorn and Devil's Tower.
At Rushmore, definitely go see the Crazy Horse monument. It dwarfs Rushmore. Badlands National Park is not too far and interesting.
Lol. I want to know too. It's a trip I would like to make someday soon.
