Compare the Left's reaction to Mangione and Penny
Taylor Lorenz, previously of the NYT and WaPo, felt "Joy" at Thompson assassination, characterizing Mangione as a "National Hero"
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas, regarded by many Democrats as a rising star, denounced the "miscarriage of justice" as a "green light for more violence against unarmed Black Americans," echoing the official statement from the NAACP, which described Penny as a "vigilante." Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.), the Hamas-supporting member of the "Squad" (pardon the redundancy), penned an absurd "Dear White People" letter arguing Penny's actions exemplified the "evil" of "white supremacy." A Black Lives Matter activist who shouted outside the courthouse offered an even blunter assessment: "God damn [the white people on the jury], and God damn America."
An activist left that simultaneously believes in prison abolition and in empowering any American convinced of his own righteousness to decide whose life it is justifiable to end has totally lost its moral bearings. -- Yascha Mounk
