you're right of course, and as you imply nothing ever gets cut
I could be wrong, but as I remember it, Regan cut taxes but not spending
which bothered me a lot at the time
the last president to cut taxes and spending was Calvin Coolidge
and for that the media labeled him the 'do nothing President'
but that averted a massive depression and kicked it down the road to 1929
if spending cuts happen for real this time,
it will really rein in inflation and stimulate private economic growth
one thing modern economists always leave out of their figuring is that government being the biggest purchaser of everything including money and labor, competes with the private marketplace and exerts huge upward pressure on prices:
i.e., everything is more expensive with big government
I am not a fan of government spending to stimulate the economy, because I believe the two biggest economic destroyers are taxes and government spending
and we have a huge amount of both
if Trump keeps his promise, I will be amazed along with everyone else
Elon and Donald act like they are the first to ever think of cutting government waste.
Reagan had a commission. Clinton and Obama had reports. Trump had a shot the first time. Why didn’t he do it then?
Answer. It all gets buried in congress. And republicans like money in their district just as much as donkeys
