This is so true. I have a Mini14, which is a great Ranch Rifle/Plinker and while it is really nowhere near the functionality and accuracy of an AR15 it never gets a second look compared to an AR or any other similarly designed rifle. Same bullet, but the wood stock seems to ease people's fear. "Oh, that looks like my Grandpops old deer rifle" they say, lost in Nostalgia. Heck, most of them want to shoot a few rounds. You break out the AR and they poop with fear and try and demonize you. Again, .223/5.56, with .223 being preferred, magazine of 10 rounds if compliant, but totally ignored due to wood stock and lack of "military/tactical styling".
