Try this. This isn’t the 1920s or 1930s when grandma would have played. For obvious reasons there’s no film there. But this shocked me. As of 1973 it was still played. And here’s what it looks like. I really would have assumed it was ditched by then. Ironicallt this is the Iowa state championship. A state where 50 years later Clark makes history and moves the game forward
Here’s some more. When searching YouTube all I can find is Iowa Probably because their version lasted ti ll 1993. But I assure you way back in the day a lot of states played this way. Based on grandma that would be Pennsylvania and Indiana. At the least. I doubt colleges had women’s teams during that era. Probably was all recreational. But rec meaning club level. Either within the university or playing clubs from other campuses. Back then a u iversity like Purdue might be as big as a medium sized high school today.
