OT: Yikes I just got my Property Assessment for my Home

I had an idea all the Californians locating here were driving housing prices up but this is nuts...my home was valued at $366k last year and this year $506k.....we need to close the borders ( in Tennessee) if this keeps up besides overblown housing prices now we get California politics...

Yes it gets humid in the summer but not like Alabama or Mississippi or Louisiana. Heck I lived in NJ for awhile and their summers were brutal for both humidity and cold....We get soe cold spells but nothing special for the whole winter. Western Tennessee gets tornados and believe it or not there are some earthquakes.....not to bad but once in a while. So just stay in Oregon with the lefties....this is not the place for you unless you are conservative, love water sports and hunting and fishing and football...but home prices are going up badly...

Tennessee is still one of the lowest property tax states, Texas is one of the highest and I read yesterday Texas is increasing their tax rate this year. you going to build a wall around Tennessee and California is gonna pay for it?

My neighbor just sold his paid off house and moved to Tennessee. They are hard core MAGA and they told me thats why they moved to Tennessee. I know several families that moved to Tennessee, all of them MAGA. So maybe politics won’t change much. I followed the brouhaha with the Tennessee Three and that was interesting.

No Prop 13? I would have to schedule an appointment with my cardiologist if my property got reassessed to current market value.

These people are moving to get away from the politics. But the liberals will soon follow and leave the failed state they created to descend like locusts and do it all over again in a more fertile field. That is what they do. I am not saying the conservatives are the ones causing the change, they are moving to new areas and are being followed by others that inflict those changes. That is why many areas don't want Californians of any kind, because they know that eventually their old neighbors will come too.

Biden has been dropping off illegals in Tennessee and because of the housing boom a couple years ago and then it's tanking Tennessee has seen the rise of MS13 in the Memphis and Chattanooga area and drugs have always been part of the culture in Nashville which is in transition from oldtimer grass growers to the gangs importing drugs. One other point, Tennessee is the Meth Capitol of the US. That one has to do with a great expanse of wooded, hill country where law enforcement is not prevalent.

On the other hand, lots of nice untouched country sides with some overly nice folks around the small cities..
