Never have I seen a movie reflect a person or events as accurately as I remember. Can't recall seeing an audience stay all through credits. Poignant, human, strong, funny, reflective, and shockingly glowing about a Republican. Imagine that coming from Hollywood. Nancy's portrayal was fiercely loyal, guardian of her husband; that partnership was inspiring and informative to me. Loved seeing how they were together. All the events, the anecdotes, the shooting, and the characters of the era (Baker, Schulz, Thatcher, Gorbachev, Tip O'Neil) are there. Told from the standpoint of an old Russian diplomat how the USSR lost the war without a shot. Movie danced effortlessly between actual footage, narration by the Russian, and cinematic scenes portraying his early life, acting career, governorship, and Presidency. Even glimpsed at his later years and passing.
I was proud to cast my first vote for Ronald Reagan. In many ways the movie was a flashback on my life. It reminds and reflects to us what greatness, vision, and leadership look like. I believe America has had three great Presidents. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan. Seeing his life memorialized and portrayed on the big screen was an evening well spent.
I wrote President Reagan a letter when I was 6 years old. He wrote me back (i realize it was probably a staffer, so what) on white house stationary and signed. Proudly displayed in my office. ‘Always stay willing to stand up for those who are weaker than you’
Uh. Not even close to telling the truth.
Keep cherry picking.
Very cool! Nice write up.
Visiting his library is a real fun Proud to be an American day.
Andrew Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt were also great Presidents. And absolute HEROES on the battlefield. Undeniably.
There was no more philosophically grounded President in the 20th Century. You would have to go back to the Founders!
