Here's an update...according to the DPW , the Palisades fire ran out of water because the reservoir was empty and to make things worse the reason the hydrants didn't have sufficient pressure to deliver water in was because that same reservoir helps create pressure for the other reservoirs to pump water. Without water in that single reservoir there was insufficent pressure for the other pumps to deliver water...all in all surprisingly neither Bass nor Newsone could figutre that out as the single reservoir for PP has been empty for over two years and zero work was shown in the so called construction of a new roof after two years.
Until Oct 2, 2024, the State of CA had policies prioritizing water flows for smelt habitat over water for drinking, irrigation, and fire fighting, leaving reservoirs empty or partially full during years of record and near record precipitation.
Jan 10, 2025, suddenly science and facts have become 'misinformation' again
What I read about the hydrants was that they are inspected yearly and reported it they don't work. The same ones were reported inoperable year after year with no action taken to repair them.
Old Hick, now you made the top 10 in least educated states (which is good) but you did even better in states with meth issues. Top 4 "You're in the conversation". Are you in walking distance of a meth lab? LMAO.
What state has the most meth labs?
The state with the most meth labs often changes year to year, but according to a 2019 publication by the Columbia Daily Tribune, Missouri ranks #1 in meth manufacturing in the United States. Other states in the conversation include Indiana, Tennessee, and Michigan.
So, did Tn learn their lesson and fix the problem? LA has seen other communitees in the recent past including my NorCal community suffer from firestorms and should have been well prepared in advance for this event they knew was possible based on predicted Santa Ana winds. I will bet Tn will not lose water pumping ability due to pumping stations burning.
Those were not the winds ...they were the gusts. Hell when I was in the reserves we made an airbourne troop drop out in Death Valley when there wer 60 wind gusts. Also during WWII the Paratrooppers were dropped on Corregidor at under 300 ft in gusts of 60MPH....some went into the ocean but the ones that made it down under heavy gun fire took the island. Seems like keeping the few airplanes capable to make the small drops down iin California was an executive decision that obviously was more concerned about the airplanes and crews than the homeowners that were losing everything.
Also those 100MPH gusts were not over every fire. It was repored as being over the first fire the others had lower numbers reported..

far different problems according to the article you posted
they ran dry in TN because of pumping station problems, like downed power lines and fire damage,
not a lack of water like in CA
