AW you might know something about this. If you have kids in K-12 is texas still teaching kids around these standardized tests, like crazy? When i lived in Dallas it was all the parents talked about. Also not particular to TX, it would be interesting to see how the private k-12 schools perform.
That is all any school teaches, it's how they get their funding (other than attendance). They could care less about the kids as long as the test scores bring in the cash. Even private schools are not immune, as they need the scores to be ranked and to keep accreditation, etc. It's less important, but still there. The biggest scam in California is that the schools with lower scores are actually given MORE funding to bring them up to snuff, but it requires more involvement from the administrators in the district, so it stinks when it happens. Many people will school choice into the under-performing school soon after this happens and reap the benefits of the funding increases and teacher overhaul.

so, it was sometime between 2010 and present that reading, math, and science scores fell off a cliff?
I wonder if that accounts for the dumbing down of the standardized tests like ACT, SAT, etc.?
I feel like people were getting dumbed down beginning in the early 70's with the New Math, ESL, and other substandard learning methodologies
