You left out that LA cut their budget for the Fire Department by about $18MM; probably to shift the funds to something more important, like DEI. The Dept. of Water & Power pay their top, and not so top, managers a quarter of a million dollars and more per year. Meanwhile the fire hydrants have run dry. Equity now means that your are now homeless too!

the water department is a cash cow. very soft job . very few hours. pays a lot , awesome benefits and pension , and it's really hard to get fired.

so say our aren't very bright (got rejected by San Diego State ) like Sanka, couldn't figure out how to do anything else besides making coffee, or you aren't willing to suck a dick like his foul mouth creepy lapdog, it's the perfect vocational choice . And fraud may not be bright, but he knows laundry . I am sure he would win all kinds of awards if they had such things.

Buddy of mine's little brother got rejected from every college he applied to. Nice kid but kind of slow. Probably surfed too much. Yes that can take over a kids life , been there done that to some extent. Kid Got a job at water dept 30 years ago. dude moved up. makes mid 6 figures for doing absolutely nothing. His only skill is he is a nice guy and checked the right ethnicity box. That's all it takes. sc

Private contracting to the greatest extent possible! Remember when a section of the Santa Monica freeway collapsed after the earthquake? The private contractor finished the job earlier than contracted for. Meanwhile, the Feds allocated 7.5 billion dollars to build charging stations, and got 7 or 8 done after more than two years. Three years ago,, they allocated $11.4 billion to bring broad band to remote areas. So far, not one connection, and Musk offered to do it for less per connection. Musk bad Feds good!
