I see this being reported all over the news for the last few years. Japan’s numbers are particularly bad. An aging society they say. But, my question, why is that a bad thing. I remember as a kid in the 70’s we would hear about overpopulation, China hitting a billion people and all that. There are 8 billion people in the world.
Who has the most to lose in a declining population environment? Corporations that need workers? Governments with geographic military and social domination in mind?
Once you get past worrying about your social security check or the color of the babies being born, what is wrong with birth rate declines? China and India have plenty of workers to make stuff for us.
I’m not ignoring the fact that population dictates economic and military growth but are governments and media making this into a crisis as a sales and marketing tool? Less people in the world sounds okay to me, I don’t like long lines.
No. It’s a good thing. It just means empty buildings. Less crowded streets.
